A Belgian in Sweden

How does a Belgian become fluent in Swedish? 🤓 Why does an architect switch to digital design?
I tell you all about it on my profile page →

Weekends are for...

Crossword puzzles in Swedish! It taught me about the other side of this language - puns, twist of words, wordplay, ambiguity ... and I love understanding complexities!

Hobbies 🛠️

This is my usual free time outfit. Since we bought our own apartment, I have enjoyed taking down old wallpaper, tearing up floors and building up bespoke carpentry. My husband jokes that my favourite possession is the sander...

I love designing and building it- physical and digital concepts!

I wrapped up my master's in interaction design exploring private pension savings 🌱

Carefree in 2060 - A look into how systems, needs and emotions interplay when imagining retirement in the future.

The pension system in Sweden is at its core very simple. Yet it is intensely emotionally charged. Inflation, an ageing population, and climate change pose threats beyond our control.

To save for retirement, starting early is the best - starting at any time in life is the next best thing. Even if we aren’t ready to save for retirement, we can get in the habit to save, invest and understand how money can serve us throughout life.To reflect on our relationship with money to release guilt, shame, and anxiety, and helps us move towards investing in our values, hopes, and dreams. Another way to a retirement with minimal financial anxiety - “carefree”.

In this process, I test the tension between what is known today and potential changes in society by using both service and speculative design. It reveals the amount of agency individuals have over long-term savings in systems we cannot change, yet can affect. I design a concrete and familiar digital tool in contrast with its speculative twin.

6 years as an architect

Key skills I bring with me

Project management

The last project I was active in was the new gymnasium in Kiruna in 2020-2021.
As senior interior architect, I lead 4 junior architects; prioritising tasks, time manage and keep an open dialogue with all actors in the project.

Multi-disciplinary

We worked as part of a bigger architect team of 25! Of course along side a group of 100 construction consultants total.
Aligning all the installations in a building of 39 000 sqm is not done in a day 💪

End users contact

I started my career as an architect but transitioned naturally to interior architecture after some years as there is much more contact with end users and more focus on everyday needs in the details.

WFH + engaging teamwork

An excellent exercise in systematic thinking, consistent application of the concept and ... teamwork!

We worked a great deal from home so I enjoyed finding ways to get people to stay creative, open and energetic. We were even able to get the work done 25% faster than projected!
